Calabash Staff - Erich Ludwig BIO - Like most of us at Global Rhythm Magazine, I've been raised on music. My first time on stage was in the womb, with my mom playing oboe. As a toddler, I appeared wrapped around her legs as she soloed with a symphony. Bless her and her patience! Once I started out on my own journey, I learned piano and french horn, and am now mostly playing west african percussion to accompany my passion for dance.
Growing up listening to almost exclusively jazz and western classical music, I remember playing a game with my father where he'd put on some piece of classical music and ask me to name the composer. I could usually tell him, or at least give him the time period the piece was composed in.
Since I started listening to more stuff, I've tried to keep that same sense of where and when music was composed. But, I'm nowhere near that well versed with the Global Rhythm Magazine catalog, because it keeps growing so quickly!
I do however, have my favorites, which are below, and will probably change if you come back next month.
